Third-party Die Sinking EDM

We are a trusted and highly skilled partner for third-party die sinking EDM services, offering precision solutions tailored to meet the most demanding industrial requirements.

What Is EDM Die Sinking and How Does It Work?

Also known as sink EDM, Ram EDM, or cavity-type EDM, this method is ideal for creating parts with complex cavities and solving challenges such as sharp internal corners that traditional CNC machining cannot handle.

The EDM process begins with the creation of an electrode—typically made from tungsten copper or graphite—shaped in the reverse geometry of the desired cavity.

Both the electrode and the electrically conductive workpiece are submerged in dielectric fluid, which acts as an insulator.

A voltage is applied, generating sparks between the electrode and the workpiece across a small gap, known as the “spark gap.” These sparks vaporize and erode the workpiece material, shaping it according to the customer’s design. The dielectric fluid simultaneously cools the area and removes debris.

Applications and Benefits

This die sinker EDM process is widely used for creating blind holes, undercuts, and intricate features in various conductive materials. It excels in producing:

  • Precision dies and molds
  • Special workpieces requiring high dimensional accuracy and repeatability
  • Smooth surface finishes, even on chemically treated or hard-to-machine materials

By combining die sinking EDM with milling and turning, we provide comprehensive and fully customized solutions for industries requiring precision engineering.

Die Sinking EDM is ideal for cavities and blind holes, Wire EDM excels at profiles and through-cuts, and Micro Drilling EDM is perfect for precise small holes.

Whether for prototyping or production, our EDM expertise ensures superior quality, consistency, and precision with a complete, end-to-end machining process.
